Nov. 11, 2021 Dahlia tuber harvest began 11/5

...and ended 11/21. Tubers are dug, cleaned, divided, bleached, dried, packed in peat moss, labeled and then stored in the cellar until late winter/early spring when they are hauled back up to wake up for spring planting. This year instead of washing the tubers, we used a tip from Darcy's Dahlias and used an air compressor to blow the dirt off. Although they do not come as clean, it is a lot less miserable!

We had flowers more than two weeks later than the average this season.

Nov. 1, 2021 Uh oh, panic. We sure needed a lot of repairs this year.

The original cement was poured in 1936. Finally our cement guy got out and did an amazing job. These steps lead to our cellar where we store our dahlias and hold a lot of our cool loving seedlings. Replacing the doors is still on the list.
